Application requirements for candidates applying for M.A and PhD Programs to be offered in the Fall Term of 2017-2018 Academic Year, documents required for application and final registration; application, interview and final registration  dates and quotas of the programs are as follows:

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A- REQUIREMENTS  AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO APPLY FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS ;

1) Application Form, which will be filled in at the Institute. ( Candidates can apply only for one  program.  
 Applications of those who are registered in another postgraduate program will not be accepted. As for those accepted, if it comes to be known later that they have been registered in another postgraduate program,their registrations will be cancelled.) 

2) Academic letter of recommendation (Letter of recommendation written by faculty members of the candiate will be submitted in a sealed envelope. The sample letter can be provided  at the website  address of the Instıtute of  Security Sciences: http: //www.pa.edu.tr)

3) Statement of purpose, which will cover studies carried out before and those planned to be done during the program as well as expectations and objectives regarding the program. 4) For candidates applying for PhD and M.A programs, a document indicating that the candidate has got a score in ALES or GRE/GMAT examinations equal to those stated in the table.(Scores got in Fall Term of 2014 and afterwards are valid.)

5) An exam result indicating that the candidate has got the required score of English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Persian from YDS (Foreign Language Exam), KPDS (Foreign Language Proficieny Exam for Public Employees), ÜDS( Interuniversity Council Foreign Language Proficiency Exam) or a score from other equivalent foreign language exams accepted by ÖSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center), which would be equivalent to the scores mentioned in the table.
(In applications for PhD programs, scores got in the Fall Semester of 2012 and afterwards are valid if the candidates have scores from exams without validity period.)
( If Turkish students who have completed their undergraduate or other postgraduate programs in an institution offering education totally in given languages submit the original copy or the certified copy of the related document in their applications for M.A  programs, foreign language score is not required.

6)The original copy or certified copy and photocopy of the undergraduate diploma or the certificate of graduation for candidates applying for M.A programs and those of M.A( with Thesis ) Diploma or the certificate of graduation for candidates applying for PhD programs.( Certificate of Equivalence  taken from YÖK for diplomas awarded abroad) (It should be stated in M.A diploma or transcript that it was an M.A program with thesis.There are no limitations in terms of university departments in applications for postgraduate programs in our Institute.)

7)The original copy and the photocopy of the academic transcripts of the undergraduate  and postgraduate programs that the candidates have completed.(Transcripts should be converted into 100-Point Scale Grade. Candidates having transcripts issued in other grading systems than 100-Point Scale Grade have to submit an official document taken from their universities which shows the converted versions of their grade point averages(GPA)into 100-Point Grade Scale. Conversion table set by the Higher Education Board will be used for the candidates without a conversion document.)

8) Photo identity card  and  its photocopy,
 
9) The original copy of the Certificate of  Military Service (excluding police chiefs and officers),

10) A photocopy of the Personnel  Identity Card for police chiefs and officers,

11) A half-cover file and a sheet protector,


12) Receipt  showing that 50 TL is deposited into Revolving Fund Account.( It will be paid at the Instıtute at the time of application)


Applications will be  made in person.
The documents mentioned will be submitted to the commisioned officers in an half-cover file arranged in the given order. 


 Documents Requested for Final Registration ;

1) Certificate of military service for male candidates(excluding police chiefs and officers),

2) Curriculum vitae (CV) and  a recent taken biometric photo (Before the submission of  documents,  CV  written in Microsoft Word and   jpeg/png formatted  photograph  must be sent to  the website address  gbeogrenci @egm.gov.tr , with  candidates’s  Name and Surname in the subject line)

3) Certificate of  employment for those who work as research assistants  at universities.

B- ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR  STUDENTS OF FOREIGN NATIONALITY


1) Application Form, which will be filled in at the Institute. (Candidates can apply only for one  program.)

2) Statement of purpose, which will cover studies carried out before and those planned to be done during the program as well as expectations and objectives regarding the program. (The sample statement of purpose   can be provided  at the website   address of the Instıtute of  Security Science: http: //www.pa.edu.tr)

3) The original and the photocopy of the passport

4) A half-cover file and a sheet protector

5) Receipt  showing that 50 TL is deposited into Revolving Fund Account.( It will be paid at the Instıtute at the time of application)

6) According to the type of the program applied, “certificate of recognition” issued by The Higher  Education Board  for  candidates  having obtained their undergraduate  or masters degree abroad ,


7) Document indicating that the candidate has scored minimum C1 in any examination held by offical institutions which are authorized to hold Turkish Proficiency Examinations.(Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree or other postgraduate degrees in an institution offering education totally in Turkish and candidates of foreign nationality who apply for M.A with thesis in English are exempt from this requirement as long as they submit related documents.

8) An exam result indicating that the candidate, apart from his native language, has got the required score of English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Persian from YDS (Foreign Language Exam), KPDS (Foreign Language Proficieny Exam for Public Employees), ÜDS( Interuniversity Council Foreign Language Proficiency Exam) or a score from other equivalent foreign language exams accepted by ÖSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center), which would be equivalent to the scores mentioned in the table. 
 (In applications for PhD programs, scores got in the Fall Semester of 2012 and afterwards are valid if the candidates have scores from exams without validity period )
 ( Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree or other postgraduate degrees in an institution offering education totally in one of the foreign languages mentioned above other than their native language are exempt from the requirement regarding proficiency in a foreign language as long as they submit the original and the certified copy of the related documents while applying for M.A programs. 
( A foreign language score is not a requirement for candidates of foreign nationality who apply for M.A with thesis, with the exception of  proficiency in Turkish.)

9) For candidates applying for PhD and M.A programs, a document indicating that the candidate has scored in ALES or GRE/GMAT examinations equal to those stated in the table

10)Under the given terms and within the periods stated above, educational costs (food, accommodation, transportation etc.) of the applicants who have been  nominated as candidates by their countries, have later applied in person and have finally succeeded in interviews will be free of charge on condition that they are covered later by themselves or by their countries.
